I
loved Zootopia (2016). It’s very wholesome.
Disney is very good at making animated films that both kids and adults can both
thoroughly enjoy. There are jokes in this film that only adult will understand
and jokes only kids will understand. However, the majority of the jokes in this
film can be understood by both parents and their children.
I also loved the world the filmmakers built.
The city of Zootopia seems like an actual functioning city. Every animal in the
city serves a purpose within it. Certain
sections of the city also reflect the species of animal that lives there. In my
opinion, Zootopia is worthy of a
sequel based on this fact alone. A world this well detailed deserves to be
revisited again.
Zootopia
also serves as a good message for young people about prejudice. In the film, the predators are feared by the
prey even though the prey tries to give the impression that they don’t fear
them. On the surface, it seems like Zootopia
is a multicultural utopia, but underneath the truth is much more complicated. The characters in this film don’t believe in
stereotypes, but it turns out that the stereotypes the animals in Zootopia are
known for tend to be true to a certain degree.
At the heat of Zootopia is the chemistry between Judy Hops (Ginnifer Goodwin) the
first rabbit member of Zootopia’s police force and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) a
fox who is a cynical con-artist. The two
are given forty-eight hours to find a missing otter. Their partnership is basically a cuter
version of 48 Hrs. Judy Hops is
optimistic despite her diminutive size and believes that anything can be
achieved if you try. Nick Wilde on the other hand has seen the seedier side of
Zootopia and knows that’s not entirely true.
There two personalities clash throughout the film, but the two unlikely
partners wind up forming a strong bond.
Zootopia,
is a fantastic animated film that I would highly recommend to any parent who
wants to find a good movie for their kid to watch or for anybody who is a fan
of Disney.
