Mild spoilers for Rage of the Red Lanterns are below!
Green Lantern: Agent Orange collects Green Lantern #39-42 and was published
by DC Comics in 2009. It was written by Geoff Johns with penciling by Philip
Tan. Agent Orange takes place after Rage of the Red Lanterns and leads into
the Blackest Night storyline. The
story introduces Agent Orange, a.k.a Larfleeze who uses an orange power ring
that is powered by greed. What’s unique about Larfleeze’s power ring abilities
is that he is able to turn the people he has killed into orange light
constructs, essentially stealing their identity. Larfleeze, a former thief,
breaks a centuries old truce between him and the Guardians of the Universe when
he leaves the Vega System, which he was forbidden to leave and that no Green
Lantern is allowed to patrol. The Guardians of the Universe with Green Lanterns
led Hal Jordan and John Stewart along with Saint Walker and Brother War launch
an all-out attack on the Vega System. What complicates this situation is Hal
Jordan is now wielding a blue power ring due to the events of Rage of The Lantern. However, Jordan has
no idea how to use the ring.
Agent
Orange is another solid effort in Geoff Johns’ run on the Green Lantern. It
further goes into depth about how the Blue Lanterns’ rings are powered and how
they interact with the Green Lanterns. Philip Tan’s art is good, but it’s not
on the level of Ivan Reis and Ethan Van Scrier.
